Fire Department Report: Sabetha Fire Department
At 2:45 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, the Sabetha Fire Department (SFD) was notified by an alarm company of a fire alarm sounding and smoke detector activation at Sabetha High School. Upon arrival, the SFD found moderate smoke in the building. They pulled hose lines and began to search for the source of the smoke. Then, the SFD found a washing machine on fire in the wrestling room of the new addition and extinguished the fire, containing it to the room of origin. The SFD remained on scene for another hour, evacuating smoke from the building with their ventilation fans, so the fire alarms could be reset without going off again. The SFD cleared at 4:17 a.m.
