Cody Gaston, 37, of Holton was released on Jan. 25 on a $10,000 own recognizance bond. Court is set for Feb. 13 at 1:30 p.m.

Crash Reports

At 1:51 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, Nathan Davis, 36, of Goff was plowing snow eastbound on 84th Road, 0.2 mile west of X Road, when he struck an unoccupied vehicle stuck in the snow. Davis was driving a 2017 John Deer Grader. The unoccupied vehicle was a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu. Damage was estimated at more than $1,000.

At 9:48 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, Linda Welliver, 78, was westbound on 80th Road when she attempted to turn south on S Road without yielding to the stop sign, striking a vehicle driven by Christina Niehues, 34, of Goff that was northbound on S Road. Welliver was taken by Sabetha EMS to Holton Community with injuries. Niehues and her five passengers went by personal vehicle to Nemaha Valley Community Hospital with injuries. Welliver was driving a 2004 Dodge Durango. Niehues was driving 2017 Ford Expedition. Damage was estimated at more than $1,000.

At 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, Debra Schreiner, 65, of Vermillion was traveling westbound on Kansas Highway 9, 0.25 mile east of A Road, when she struck a deer. Schreiner was driving a 2011 Dodge R15. Damage was estimated at more than $1,000.

At 10:11 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, Allie Weyer, 19, of Centralia was traveling westbound on 56th Road, 0.1 mile east of G Road, when she struck a coyote. Weyer was driving a 2023 Hyundai Azera. Damage was estimated at more than $1,000.

Incident Responses

At 10:59 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, deputies stopped a vehicle on J Road south of 176th where occupants were found to be in possession of alcohol. Citations for minor in possession were issued to Chase Holthaus, 18, of Seneca and Jonah Deters, 18, of Seneca. Katie Heinen, 17, Ava McKinley, 17, and Trent Thomas, 17, all of Seneca, will also have charges filed as juveniles.
