Love your local library

January was one for the record books, it seems. So, it is nice to catch a little bit of sunshine and warm weather before we head into the deep freeze again. The best thing about February is the promise of Valentine’s Day and the fun, flowers and candy that goes with it. It is a day to create new memories and enjoy the time with friends and family.  Maybe a family fun night with a DVD or BluRay from the library would be the answer.

Or, if you like to bake, try one of the character cake pans in our collection. We have more than 200 different cake pans available for checkout.

Ms. Sheri has put up a new Story Walk on Main Street, so take a stroll with your youngest and read and look as you go. It’s always a fun way to get some exercise and get rejuvenated as it gets warmer outside.

Of course, if reading is your thing, the library always has an abundant variety of popular romance authors and titles. From historical fiction to modern day mysteries, romance has played significant roles in the plots and outcomes of those stories. Our current display features several popular titles and authors and are waiting for someone to sweep them off the shelf and take them home.

Don’t forget President’s Day on Monday, Feb. 19. Need a good book report book? Try one about one of the U.S. Presidents that are displayed in both the adult and children’s areas. Place a hold on our online catalog at NEXTkansas.org and pick it up at your convenience. All it takes is your library card and password. Need a card? Stop by and register at the circulation desk and open up your world of reading.

I believe that Mary Cotton would be happy to visit the library today and see what her vision has created here in Sabetha. The library is a free source of good reading, both educational and recreational, and available to all residents with a NEXT library card. Mary Cotton’s desire to create a free public library has blossomed into a real destination place for the patrons of Sabetha and the surrounding community and is here because of all of the gracious and generous support given by our residents.
