Committed to care — an update from Sabetha Community Hospital

The Second Annual Community Health Fair was a success! Hopefully if you attended, you gained some valuable information and if you couldn’t attend you will be able to join us next year!

During the Health Fair, you probably noticed the tables full of fresh baked goods. These items were made by the SCH Guild members. The SCH Guild is an important part of the hospital organization. The Guild ladies volunteer through many different avenues to raise money to purchase equipment for the hospital. Through these events and the collection of Best Choice Labels, the Guild was able to pledge funds towards the purchase of a back-up generator for anesthesia, an EKG machine for the Outpatient Clinic, and chairs for the patient rooms. If you’d like to save your Best Choice Labels for the Guild, you can get them to any Guild member or drop them by the hospital.

The Guild meets the third Monday of each month for a complimentary lunch and short educational program. For more information about the Guild or to join, contact the Guild Treasurer and SCH HR Director Julie Holthaus.

Dr. Mamidipally is an established Cardiologist out of Topeka and has come to other area outreach clinics previously, but recently, Dr. Swapna Mamidipally began seeing patients in Sabetha.

The USDA loan application still remains at the federal level awaiting approval. Meanwhile, fundraising is continuing, and drawings are being finalized.

Upcoming… SCH is partnering with the Meadowlark Extension District to host a Babysitting Clinic on Thursday, May 23, for area youth ages 9-12. Space is limited and those in attendance will learn basic first aid, various age-appropriate activities, nutrition, and more!

The Sabetha Family Practice will be offering Sports Physicals on June 11 (middle school) and June 12 (high school) from 3:30 to 5 p.m. The cost will be $25.
