Sabetha’s sales tax distributions are down

Sabetha’s sales tax distributions are down from last year’s distributions for April. This is according to the April City/County Local Sales Tax Distribution Report released by the Kansas Department of Revenue.

The state issues these distributions two months after collection, so the April distribution is a reflection of February 2024 sales.

Sabetha saw a decrease in sales tax distributions in the month of April — with distributions of $38,521.50, an 15.9 percent decrease from the $45,797.41 distributed in April 2023. Sabetha’s local sales tax rate is one percent.

Fiscal year to date — from April 2023 to April 2024, compared with distributions in the same time frame the previous year — Sabetha is down 13.5 percent.

With a sales tax rate of 1.5 percent, Hiawatha’s distributions went down 0.7 percent — from $95,330.52 in April 2023 to $94,641.34 in April 2024. Fiscal year to date, Hiawatha’s distributions are down 3.1 percent compared to last year.

Holton’s distributions are down 0.1 percent, from $63,081.57 in April 2023 to $63,008.42 in April 2024. Holton’s local sales tax rate is 0.75 percent. Fiscal year to date, Holton’s distributions are up 0.9 percent.

With a local sales tax rate of one percent, Seneca’s distributions are up five percent, from $57,107.07 in April 2023 to $59,957.49 in April 2024. Fiscal year to date, Seneca’s distributions are up 0.4 percent.

County

Nemaha County saw an increase in April, while Brown and Jackson counties saw a decrease in sales tax distributions for the month of April.

Nemaha County, with a local sales tax rate of one percent, saw a 1.4 percent increase — from $182,996.51 in April 2023 to $185,522.39 in April 2024. Fiscal year to date, Nemaha County’s distributions are down 2.8 percent.

Brown County’s distributions decreased 8.3 percent, from $120,404.45 in April 2023 to $110,370.77 in April 2024. Brown County has a local sales tax rate of one percent. Fiscal year to date, Brown County’s distributions are down 7.2 percent.

Jackson County, with a local sales tax rate of 1.4 percent, saw an 0.7 percent decrease — from $172,344.49 in April 2023 to $171,058.97 in April 2024. Fiscal year to date, Jackson County’s distributions are up 14.7 percent.

State

Statewide, city and county distribution totals were up 2.1 percent in April. Distributions totaled $96,570,953.99 in April 2024, up from the $94,624,619.30 distributed in April 2023. Fiscal year to date, statewide distributions are down zero percent.
