Candidates vie for multiple positions

The candidate filing deadline has come and gone for the 2024 election, and voters now have an official list of candidates for most local, state and national races. The Primary Election will be held Tuesday, Aug. 6. All local positions for Brown and Nemaha listed below will be on the primary ballot. These positions will be narrowed down during the Primary Election with Democrat and Republican ballots. County precinct committee people will be elected at the Primary Election.

Then, the General Election will be held Tuesday, Nov. 5.

Nemaha County

In Nemaha County, two commissioners’ seats will be on the General Election ballot, as well as County Clerk, County Treasurer, Register of Deeds, County Attorney and County Sheriff.

The position for Nemaha County Commissioner for the 2nd District is currently held by Jason Koch of Centralia. He has re-filed for the position. Also filing for the position are Austin Petry of Centralia, Angela Harkins of Baileyville and Lane Hanzlicek of Wetmore.

The position for Nemaha County Commissioner for the 3rd District is currently held by Dylan Keim of Seneca. He has not re-filed for the commissioner position. However, Joseph Dalinghaus and Sarah Feldkamp, both of Seneca have filed.

The position for Nemaha County Clerk is currently held by Mary Kay Schultejans. She has re-filed for the position.

The position for Nemaha County Treasurer is currently held by Janell Niehues. She has not re-filed for the position. However, Kim Bontrager of Seneca has filed.

The position for Nemaha County Register of Deeds is currently held by Roxann Holthaus. She has re-filed for the position.

The position for Nemaha County Attorney is currently held by Brad Lippert. He has re-filed for the position.
