On Wednesday, June 26, the Boy Scouts Troop 77 gave a presentation about the experiences of a scout during the last Picnic in the Park event of the year at the Mary Cotton Public Library Park.

The presentation started off with the color guard, Brantley Bunck and Grant Stapleton, carrying the troop flag and American flag to the stage. Then, the scouts and crowd said the pledge of allegiance together.

Sutton Davis spoke to the crowd about what items the scouts use during their camping trips, including sleeping bags, foldable utensils, etc. Then, some of the scouts and Scout Leader Andrew Davis put together a tent while Sutton Davis talked through the steps of setting the tent up.

Bunck and Stapleton then spoke about their experience at Camp Jayhawk and what their favorite parts of the trip were.

After tearing down the tent, the scouts showed the crowd what their cooking set-up looks like and what kind of cast iron pots they use. Scout Leader Shawn Weldin handed out papers and answered questions from the audience.

The crowd was then welcomed to the stage to see the Boy Scouts demonstrate how to tie a square knot.

Sheri Edelman greatly appreciates the community for their attendance at Picnic at the Park.

“I would like to say a big thank you to the community for supporting our reading program and Picnic in the Park!” Edelman said. “We have had our best turn out this year! Please plan to attend next summer as well!”
