Morrill continues grant-funded tree project

Submitted

The Morrill Tree Board is continuing its grant-funded “Shade for Tomorrow” project through funding provided by the Kansas Forest Service under the Inflation Reduction Act. The project includes the removal of diseased or dying trees and replacement planting to expand tree coverage and enhance green spaces throughout Morrill. In May, the Morrill Tree Board awarded a contract to Gudenkauf Tree Service of Seneca for the removal of 47 trees.

Grimm’s Gardens of Hiawatha is planting two replacement trees throughout Morrill for each tree removed. Planting is expected to be completed by spring 2027.

The Morrill Tree Board appreciates the support of the Kansas Forest Service, Grimm’s Gardens, Gudenkauf Tree Service, and local homeowners as this project continues to strengthen and beautify the community for years to come.
