Tawnia K. Smith, 43, of Onaga was arrested on Oct. 12 by the Nemaha County Sheriff’s Office (NMSO) on a Nemaha County warrant for possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. She was released on a $1,000 bond on Oct. 12 with a court date of Nov. 10 at 9:30 a.m.

Shantel Mewhinney, 27, of Bern was arrested on Oct. 15 by NMSO on charges of attempted domestic battery. She was released on Oct. 16 on a $1,000 bond. Court is set for Nov. 10 at 9:30 a.m.

Johnathan Almendares Gradiz, 33, of Lincoln, Neb., was arrested on Oct. 18 by NMSO on charges of no valid driver’s license and transporting an open container. Almendares Gradiz was released on the same day on a $425 cash bond. Court is set for Nov. 24 at 9:30 a.m.

Crash Reports

At 10:20 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 11, Caden Weaver, 18, of Barnes was traveling northbound on G Road, 0.4 mile north of 72nd Road, when he struck a deer. Weaver was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado. More than $1,000 in damage was estimated.
