Isabelle Scoby channels her creativity

Submitted by Isabelle Scoby
Creativity has a way of turning ordinary moments into something memorable. I am Isabelle Scoby, a senior at Sabetha High School, and this year, I have had the opportunity to PLE at The Iron Gate.
Each morning, I spend about half an hour there, gaining hands-on experience throughout the school year. Under the guidance of my mentor, Valerie Keim, an experienced event planner and stylist, I have learned what it takes to create meaningful, memorable experiences. Working alongside her has given me a closer look at how creativity and care can turn into something special. Valerie’s passion for turning visions into remarkable events immediately inspired me. Whether it’s a wedding or a small gathering, her creativity and dedication have made a real difference in our community. Throughout the semester, I have taken part in everything from floral design and tablescapes to wedding prep and interior styling. Each project has taught me something new and given me a deeper appreciation for the effort and creativity behind event planning.
This experience has helped me explore how creativity and service can come together in meaningful ways. I am incredibly thankful to have Valerie as my mentor this year — she’s shown me what it means to love your work and use it to bring joy to others.
