Morrill resident Carol Beckner was among 1,433 female motorcyclists who made history June 13 in Rockford, Ill., by setting three Atlas World Records during an all-female motorcycle ride.

The riders traveled 31 miles together after gathering at Hard Rock Casino Rockford. The event set records for the largest all-female motorcycle ride, the largest simultaneous gathering of female motorcyclists, with 1,480 participants, and the greatest distance covered by an all-female motorcycle parade of more than 1,000 riders.

Women from 43 states, as well as Quebec, Alberta, Manitoba and Alaska, participated in the event.

Beckner rode on her 2022 Harley-Davidson Street Bob, from Sabetha to Rockford with her cousin Denys Shafer of Omaha, Neb. The round trip covered 1,363 miles.

The ride was organized by Ellie Rains, founder of Midwest Women Riders, along with a team of volunteers and supporters. The group promoted the event with the slogan, “Get your groove on.”

Beckner received an official Atlas World Records certificate and other souvenirs commemorating the accomplishment.

“It was an amazing event,” Beckner said. “I had the honor of riding with 1,432 other all-female motorcycle riders in breaking three world records.”
