Marvin’s mumblings

Marvin’s “M” this week is for his high school Morrowville, in Washington County where sister, Joyce, was a cheerleader and I thought people might enjoy some of the traditional outfits. This past week was quiet with multiple visits to doctors for a sinus infection. But there was some craziness.

At Friday night’s Bluejay win over Royal Valley, I overheard Scott Burger, the announcer, share that he had tried to get in the wrong car at Country Mart.

Of course, this reminded me of this happening at the AC Home when I actually got in and sat on a lady in the wrong car. But what it really reminded me of was forgetting my car at the KCI airport again. This had happened in 1994 when my daughter Jada and I went to St. Louis, she driving her car and me flying from KCI to meet her there and then coming back home and forgetting the car at the airport.

The next morning, Karen got me a ride with Adrian Strahm from Wenger’s, but when I got to the airport, I had forgotten to take the car keys. I told Jada, who had to come and bring me the keys, “do not tell Karen,” but she did, and Karen put it in our Christmas letter that I was already looking forward to Easter and hiding my own Easter eggs.

So, this time after driving the Mini Cooper home from California, I forgot that I had driven my Acadia to the airport. Two days later, I had to get another ride from Wenger’s with Kevin Montgomery. I had driven my van and parked it in front of the technical center and then two days later, they called to ask me if I was gonna come down and pick it up.

So if I forget your first name right now, that will be a minor incident. I forgot my own and had to sing happy birthday to me, happy birthday, dear Marvin, before I could remember mine. I’m blaming it on the sinus congestion.

They do say that there are four stages of senility. Number one, you forget other people’s names. Number two, you forget your own name. Number three, you forget to zip up and number four, you forget to zip down. I’m not there yet.
